INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE FOP/SUPERVISORY COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT
RESOLUTION #03-86
WHEREAS, a tentative agreement has been achieved between representatives of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Sheriff, and the County on a collective bargaining agreement for July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2005; and
WHEREAS, the provisions of this Agreement are consistent with Board guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the changes to the current Agreement have been ratified by the employees within that bargaining unit; and
WHEREAS, the changes have been approved by the County Services and Finance Committees; and
WHEREAS, County policy prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation; and
WHEREAS, this contract does not include such provisions.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the County reasserts its policy on non-discrimination.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that County negotiators are directed to continue efforts to include such language in future bargaining contracts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the July 1, 2002 - June 30, 2005 contract is hereby approved and the Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners and the County Clerk are authorized to sign it on behalf of the County, after approval of the contract by the County Attorney.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that changes as outlined on the staff review be implemented, including wages increased three (3) per cent on 6-29-02, three (3) per cent on 6-28-03, and three (3) per cent on 6-26-04. No wage increase or retro pay shall be given until the contract is signed by the parties.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the county negotiation team is directed to advise the representatives of the FOP Fraternal Order of Police and the Sheriff that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners wishes to amend this contract to include a prohibition against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board Chair and the County Clerk are authorized to sign a Letter of Understanding to this effect if approved by the other respective parties.
